Norman L. Houck, 80

Norman L. Houck Jr., 80, of Paradise, died of natural causes at home on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was the husband of Carole M. (Sweigart) Hershey Houck for over 15 years.

Norm spent his career in the US Navy as Chief Warrant Officer, in aviation ordnance. Later, he retired from the maintenance department of Pequea Valley School District.

He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Narvon.

Norm volunteered with Christ’s Home and enjoyed actively serving his community. A handyman, he also enjoyed woodworking.

Born in Honey Brook, he was the son of the late Norman L. Houck, Sr. and Julia (McConaghy) Houck. In addition to Carole, Norm is survived by two sons, Norman L., Houck, III, of Florida and Raymond E. Houck of Narvon; a step-daughter, Marie married to Eric Weaver of Lancaster; two granddaughters, Lauren and Kayla Weaver; his siblings, Ray married to I. Louise Houck of Towson, MD, Alda married to James Hagy of New Holland and Robert Houck of Bowmansville. He will be missed by many friends and extended family and his beloved bulldog, Mack.

There will be a Celebration of Norm’s Life on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion UM Church, 753 Mt. Zion Rd, Narvon, PA with Pastor Keith Blackwell officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. Interment will be private.
