Myrtle E. Chohany, 86
January 18, 2026
Myrtle E. Chohany, 86, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. Bacon and Thelma L. (Cave) Bacon. Myrtle was the devoted wife of the late Gary R. Chohany, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage – a partnership built on love, hard work, and a deep commitment to family.
Myrtle was generous with both her time and her spirit. Throughout her life, she worked several jobs, including retail sales, serving as a crossing guard, and as a waitress and cook at Chohany’s Family Restaurant. If you asked Myrtle what her favorite job was, she would proudly say it was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver to those she loved. She found her greatest joy in taking care of others and making sure everyone was well fed, comfortable, and felt at home.
Myrtle was faithful in her love for Jesus Christ and was a devoted member of Millersville Bible Church for 36 years.
She is survived by two sons, David E. Chohany Sr., husband of Robin of New Oxford, PA, and Timothy P. Chohany, husband of Susan of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren, David Jr., Sonya, and Calvin; and five great-grandchildren, Khiley, Adrien, Trenton, Skye, and Stevie; and a daughter in law, Cindy Chohany of Ocean City, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary R. Chohany; sons Brian Chohany and Gary Chohany Jr.; brothers Harry Bacon and Jonny Bacon; and sisters Caroline Schaeffer and Minnie Rhodes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Calvary Homes, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Myrtle’s memory may be made to Millersville Bible Church, 121 N. George St. Millersville, PA 17551 or to the Calvary Homes Benevolent Fund at the address above.

My grandmother is the best woman I know. She raised her children, her grandchildren and even had a big part in raising her great grandchildren. She cut my first born’s cord and held her first. I don’t know how I’m going to live without her. I just keep in visioning her in heaven with my grandfather bc they both loved Jesus Christ.
