Muriel June McClure, 90
April 17, 1932 - February 13, 2023
Devoted Mother
Muriel “Myrtie” June McClure, 90, was called Home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 13, 2023, at Brethren Village in Lititz, PA, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Muriel was born on April 17, 1932, in Downingtown, PA, to the late Eddy and Mary (Eller) McClure. She graduated from Southern Lancaster County Joint High School, Quarryville, PA, in 1949, where she excelled in language arts, typing, shorthand, art, music and softball.
Throughout her life, Muriel lived in Pennsylvania, California and Virginia. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother as well as having had a rewarding 26 year career with the U.S. Government as an administrative assistant. She was employed at various locations: Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD; Veterans Administration Medical Center in Coatesville, PA; McClellan Air Force Base in CA; Langley Air Force Base in VA and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Richmond, VA. Muriel retired in 1999.
Muriel leaves her beautiful smile, laughter and loving spirit to be remembered by her former husband: Theodore Stetler of Coatesville, PA; three daughters: Deborah Davis of Forest, VA, Laurie (Paul DeAngelis) Showers of Racine, WI, Cynthia (Richard) Terry of Perkasie, PA; three grandchildren: Wayne (Danielle) Terry of Doylestown, PA, Kristen (Cory) Walter and Stephen Terry, both of Perkasie, PA; six great-grandchildren: Josie, Nick, Daphne and Nora Terry; Xander and Sydney Walter; and a sister: Marian (Ronald) Gehman of Peach Bottom, PA. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Trent Terry, brother and sister-in-law: Emanuel and Marianne McClure, and son-in-law: Bobby Davis.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Muriel loved to read, garden, sing, travel, sew, bike, swim, hike and spoil her cats. She had an uncanny ability to see people’s needs and reach out to them. Many lives were touched by her kindness, generosity, love for Christ and passion for life.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Muriel’s Life on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Chapel in Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Guests may call on the family from 10 -10:30 AM. Interment will follow the Celebration of Life at Witness Park Cemetery, 419 Pierson Road, Lititz, PA. If desired, memorial donations in Muriel’s name may be made to Brethren Village Good Samaritan Fund online at bv.org or by mail (3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543); or to World Wildlife Fund at http://support.worldwildlife.org.
