Mary-Jane “Molly” Haggblom, 82
July 19, 2025
Mary-Jane “Molly” Haggblom, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Maple Farm Nursing Center.
Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Harriet (Prince) DeYoung. She was the loving wife of the late Gene A. Haggblom.
Molly was raised in Hingham, Massachusetts, which she always considered “home”. She graduated from Cape Cod Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse soon after high school. She met her beloved husband while playing in a community band in Hingham. Molly moved to Lancaster with her husband for his work in the late 1960’s. She finished her nursing career at Homestead Village, having worked there for 20 years caring for her patients and coworkers. A talented French Horn player, she shared her gift of music with the Malta Band, the Lancaster Senior Orchestra, and many local churches. Molly was a former member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster and enjoyed the fellowship of church and neighborhood friends, having lived in Lancaster over 50 years.
Molly found joy soaking up the sun on the beach and enjoying lobster dinners with friends and family. Christmas was her favorite holiday with decorating the tree and playing Christmas music.
She is survived by her daughters, Amy Haggblom and Cindy Butler; her sister, Jody King; and grandchildren, Andrew and Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene.
Friends and family will be received from 10am to 11am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 11am. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

To Amy and Cindy:I am so sorry for your loss! I have only vague memories of your mother from when I played a few times at your house as a child (when Amy and I were in preschool and then elementary school). Again, my deepest sympathies!Robin (Yates) Burgoon, Lancaster, PA

While I never knew Molly, I work with Cindy and I can see how many of Molly’s positive qualities were passed along. It is wonderful to see so many remembrances from the different parts of her life – home, neighborhood, Church, orchestra and work. May these memories comfort you all and bring a smile when you think of her. Andrea Turnbull

Dear Family,
I have nothing but fond memories of Molly and her very endearing and gleeful personality. She and Gene were dutiful members of the Jubilant Brass at FUMC in Lancaster when I was leading the group. She was always very quick with a playful quip when the opportunity presented itself. Please accept my condolences on your loss. Ken Husler

Dear Molly’s family,
Molly and I were fairly close neighbors. We played in the Lancaster Senior Orchestra together and often shared the drive to rehearsal. She was a wonderful friend. My husband fixed her computer.

I was so sorry to hear of Molly’s passing and I send my deepest sympathies to her family. She was one of my mother’s dearest friends, a longtime member of the infamous Wine & Cheese group, and part of the unofficial neighborhood mother’s coalition who kept an eye on us. I will always remember her laugh and the New England accent she never lost. Praying you find comfort in years of happy memories. Dave Branstetter

Our friendship began, Our senior year of high school, 1960 -1961. We met at Miss Murdock’s cooking sewing class. You cooked and I learned to sew. That’s about the extent of either one of them. Thank you for letting me in on your life with getting to know your Mother and Father, your Grandmother. My children, your children. Your wonderful marriage. And my four marriages? You’re in my thoughts and prayers every night. Have been and will be. God bless you. I miss you. Love Alice Elizabeth Coburn, King, Bowab, Herman, and finally the Best Kerrigan.

We send our deepest sympathies at the news of Molly’s death. I have fond memories of her ringing the cow bell in our Grandview neighborhood to beckon Cindy and Amy home from play. Her recipe for lemon poppyseed bread is one of my favorites. Her infectious laughter and outspoken opinions were mainstays of my mom’s friend circle. Blessings
