Mary Christine Pleger, 62
January 08, 2025
Mary Christine Pleger, known to many as Tina, passed away January 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends; she was 62. Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia Oppel. She shared over 38 years of marriage, memories and love with her loving husband William “Bill” Pleger.
Many remember Tina for her dedicated years as an administrator at Family Eye Group of Lancaster. In her free time, she was an avid crafter selling her wares at local craft shows and on Etsy. She enjoyed creating Christmas decorations, personalized tumblers and home décor. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and never met a stranger. Her friends were lifelong, and she treasured their regular get-togethers. She adored being a Grandma and was a chaperone for her granddaughters marching band trips for 8 years and participated with Friends of Music.
Tina’s love will live on in her husband Bill, their son, Brandon Pleger, husband of Tiffany of Lancaster, grandchildren, Lexus, Santos and Analicia Velazquez, a great grandson, Liam Ewing, and her sisters, Deb, wife of the late Dave Wagner, and Jessica, wife of Scott May, all of Lancaster, as well as countless friends. She was preceded in passing by her brother Richard Oppel.
The family welcome guests to a viewing on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, beginning at 1 PM with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM. Interment to follow at Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Tina’s name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

I worked with Tina in same office at PSS for almost 11 years. I remember being on the Relay for Life team ‘Tender Hearts’ with her which held a special place in her heart. We were on the employee activity committee together and I even joined her for a few years helping out with the McCaskey post prom.. She was a lot of fun. We had plans for a get together in February. I am still in shock that she will not be there! She will be missed 🙁 My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

I was so shocked when I received a phone call from Bill informing me of Tina’s passing. I first met Tina when we both worked at Playskool toy company and we fast became friends. I had the privilege of standing by her side when she married Bill. Over time our lives drifted apart as we raised our own families, but whenever we spoke or seen each other that distance was erased. We just picked up where we left off. It has been an honor to be her friend She was loved and will be missed by anyone that got to know her. My love and prayers are with Bill, Brandon and the rest of her family

Dear Bill and family, We are so shocked and saddened by Tina’s recent passing. It’s so very hard to believe. Just put away one of the Christmas ornaments she gave to us. Missed seeing her at Christmas at the 8th Ward party and will miss her at the picnics too. Praying that you can find some peace and strength in the upcoming days and that her memory will be a blessing to you and her many friends too. Pat and Deb Busser
