Marjorie Schlimme Bartone, 93
December 12, 1931 - February 05, 2025
Marjorie Schlimme Bartone, 93, of Strasburg, passed away peacefully in her home of more than 52 years on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. She was surrounded by love and her Classic Country music. She was born in Compass, Chester County, and was one of 11 children of Fred Schlimme and Helen Thompson Schlimme. Marjorie is predeceased by her parents and siblings and the two great loves of her life, her husband Donald Joseph Bartone, and her long-time companion John W. (Jack) Gass. Surviving is her son, Donald J. Bartone, II (Lancaster), her daughters Beth Anne Good (Montana) and Kerry L. Bartone (Lancaster), and her grandchildren Joshua Allen French, Jared Michael French, and Adam Joseph Bartone and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie’s dedication was always to her family first. Employed outside of the home at various times in her life (Lukens Steel, Penn Dairies and Educator’s Mutual Life Insurance) her most cherished and important role was always as ‘Mom’, ‘Mom-Mom’ and ‘Aunt Margie’. Her greatest joy was her home, helping others, and walking down the ‘back road’ and around and about Strasburg talking and visiting with neighbors and friends. One of her most cherished memories that she frequently shared was around the time spent at the camper with Jack at the Avalon Campground and the summers with her grandchildren and loved ones at the Jersey shore. The world needs more people like Marjorie; kind and pure of heart, the ability to accept and forgive others unconditionally, and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Private interment with her husband will be in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery, Coatesville, PA.

Beth,
I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I enjoyed the times we went to her house;she was always so good to and with Taylor. My favorite was her walking Taylor on the beach until she calmed down and fell asleep.

Kerry,
It was an honor to get to know your precious mother over these many months. She was the sweetest! She was always appreciative of the help I could lend her (except for the eye drops – not so much) She shared so many happy memories of her childhood (farm chores, canning, school), her years raising her children (baking and Christmas-time, birthdays) & other light-hearted moments. I was blessed by her kindness, cheerfulness & sweet spirit. Even in her weakened state she was concerned for my comfort which is a testament of her character. Her last words to me were of her grandchildren and how proud she was of them. I will miss her dearly. – Your Friend, Sarah Powell

Adam & family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Margie when she made the super-human effort to attend Ronnie & Adam’s wedding on October 21, 2023. I thank Kerry for getting her there. Although she was suffering from the illnesses that ravage a person in their NINETIES, she walked & stood on her own. Her grace & kindness were palpable. Her mind was sharp as a tack. What a good person she must’ve been to all. I’m sorry for your loss & hope the pleasant memories of her time on earth ease your sorry.

Kerry I am sorry for the loss of your Mother. You have been so caring and supportive of her. You made sure to do as she wished and made sure she was taken care of and able to stay in her home. We know she is in a better place but you will miss her so much. I enjoyed the few times I got to visit and play cards with her. Take care.
