Lorraine K. Speece, 78
October 12, 2025
Lorraine K. Speece, 78, of Lititz, died on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital. She was born in New Kensington to the late Elmer G. and Rose (Mazzon) Mottillo; beloved widow of Glenn A. Speece; loving mother of Susan (Doyle E. “Tray” Morrison III.), of West Fork, Ark., and Dr. Karen (Dr. William) Milheim, of Leola; grandmother of Machaela, Arianna, Teagan and Samuel; sister of the late Elmer A.(Jody) Mottillo; and Nicholas (Joyce) Mottillo.
Lorraine was a registered nurse and a 1967 graduate of the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for a number of years at Citizens General Hospital, where she cared deeply for her patients and coworkers. Beyond her profession, Lorraine found joy in spending time with family and friends. A devoted member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster, PA she also shared her faith by volunteering at Neffsville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Lorraine had a deep love for Ocean City, New Jersey—a special place where she honeymooned and returned year after year with her family. She most recently visited with family this past August. Lorraine had a vibrant spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She cherished laughter, Broadway shows, and stand-up comedy. Whether traveling to New York City to see a show or attending performances at the theater, she never missed a chance to enjoy the arts and share those moments with loved ones.
Even though she lived in Lititz for many years, Lorraine remained closely connected to her roots in Pittsburgh. She kept strong ties with her family there and had a loyal circle of friends in both Pittsburgh and the Lancaster area. In her Lititz neighborhood, she loved walking and spending time with neighbors—her community of health and friendship became a natural extension of her nursing spirit.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 18th, at Spacht-Snyder Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, PA, followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 3 p.m. Interment will be privately held at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PA.

To the family of Lorraine,
I was shocked and saddened by Lorraine’s passing. Lorraine and I were friends in school and grew up together. We caught up with each other about 20 years ago and we have emailed each other every day since then. We discussed everything. One would think that there would be nothing else to talk about. But we always found something. We solved all of the world’s problems every day.
Lorraine was so devoted to her family. I feel like I know all of you through what she wrote and the pictures that she would send.
My life was made better through knowing Lorraine. She will be dearly missed. Her friendship meant a lot to me. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

To the family and friends of Lorraine:
Lorraine was my dear neighbor and friend when we lived in the Blackridge neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pa. in the early 1980s. My young daughter, Melissa, and her daughter, Karen, became fast friends. It was through our children that a friendship was forged. Although our family only remained in the Pittsburgh area for a few years, Lorraine and I exchanged Christmas cards and news of family for the next 45 years. I recently had the privilege of attending a mini-reunion between Karen and Melissa on Hilton Head Island. We shared memories, laughs and fond remembrances of Lorraine, especially the delicious recipe for her beef stew, which I make to this day! I will forever regret that I did not have the chance to tell Lorraine how much I enjoyed visiting with Karen and to congratulate her on what an amazing and genuinely fine woman she raised. Lorraine so loved her family and her influences will live on in them for many generations to come. With love and sympathy for your immeasurable loss, Susan Ade and family
