Loretta Ann “Lorie” Reider, 60

July 07, 2025

Loretta Ann “Lorie” Reider, 60, of Mount Joy, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Hospice and Community Care of Mount Joy.

Born in Coaldale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael Susko and Loretta (Konsko) Eckman. She was the loving wife of Thomas “Tom” Reider.

Animals were Lorie’s heart and soul. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to their care and well-being, working at various veterinary clinics around Lancaster that focused on low-cost spay and neuter services. She was especially proud to help start a pet program at the domestic violence shelter in Lancaster, ensuring that both people and their beloved pets could find safety together. Lorie also loved gardening and the beauty of flowers. She enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with loved ones. Some of her happiest memories were made on the water — she and her husband spent many cherished days boating together or just sitting at the water’s edge.

She is survived by her mother, Loretta (Edward) Eckman; her husband, Thomas Reider, of Mount Joy; her sisters, Melissa Susko, of South Carolina, and Cheryl (Tom) Beirs, of Lancaster; and a couple of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Susko; and her sister, Michelle Ebersole.

Interment is being held privately at the convenience of the family.

Condolences to the Family

I was shocked to hear of Lori’s passing.  She recently came to where I work and I was amazed at how great she looked.  She said she just came back from Costa Rica and was thrilled with that adventure.  She looked so happy.  She was always willing to help us trap a cat, get it spayed or neutered and either keep the cat or send it on its way.  She was excited to start her new job with little ponies.  Her leaving is something I find difficult to accept. Heartbroken for sure. Zona Hearn
