Laurie A. Salimbeni, 54

February 17, 2018

Laurie A. Salimbeni, 54, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Hospice & Community Care after a courageous 12 year battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of Regina (Ziemba) Posipanko and the late Thomas Posipanko. She was the loving wife of Gene Salimbeni with whom she shared over 32 years of marriage.
She was a 1981 graduate of Penn Manor HS. Laurie went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Millersville University.
Laurie worked for the Wilbur Chocolate Co. in Lititz for many years, working in various management and leadership positions.
From sister’s weekends at the beach, camping with the grandkids, playing games, to just hanging out, she loved family time.
Laurie was a kind soul with a gentle heart. She embraced life and had an infectious personality that made everyone love her. As a huge Geocaching hobbyist she loved meeting new people, taking trips and hikes, as well as solving and creating unique puzzle caches. She was always up for challenge or adventure and liked to experience things new and exciting. Laurie always made time for you, no matter the circumstance, and would help out as often as she could.
She was a tireless advocate for ovarian cancer and helped to create awareness through events such as the Relay for Life, a parade, or wearing teal on Tuesdays. Her TEAL Sisters’ friendships were a wonderful, inspirational part of her life that had helped her as she went through her journey.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amanda Salimbeni of Marietta; son, Matt Salimbeni of Columbia; two grandchildren, Aiden Fenstermaker and Madelynn Salimbeni. Also surviving are three sisters, Gail (Posipanko) Keating wife of Tom of Millsboro, DE, Dr. Nancy (Posipanko) Herr of Lititz, Sue (Posipanko) McCune wife of Bill of Lancaster and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Laurie’s Life will be held at 6PM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Interment will be private. Family and friends will be received from 3-6PM at the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Laurie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (Team: Amazing Racers, Relay for Life) 314 Good Dr, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Condolences to the Family

Dear Gene and family.  I was so sorry to hear about Laurie’ passing.  She has been on my mind for a while now and knew she was a fighter.  My husband, Earl, passed away last March from brain cancer after only being diagnosed two months prior.  I know Laurie and Earl worked together at Wilbur and I remember she took us to Longwood Gardens years go at Christmas time.  I think at that time she was only starting geocaching and was very excited.  She was a wonderful person!  Sincerely, Darlene Williams’s

Gene – My deepest condolences to you and the entire family on your loss.  I, along with many others, had the pleasure of working with Laurie back in the mid-1990’s at Cardinal Technologies.  While Cardinal went through many ups and down during that time, Laurie, who lead our Inside Sales / Customer Service operations, was one of the “rocks” that everyone could always count on.  Her smile and positive attitude were contagious.  She will be missed.  Jeff Murphy

Dear Gene and Family. I worked with Laurie for many years. I was saddened to learn of Laurie’s passing. Laurie was an amazing woman. Her Obituary was a beautiful tribute of Laurie. I remember Laurie as a kind person who made time for you or would check-in if she sensed help was needed. She had such a great sense of business acumen and could rally everyone around her; encouraging words of wisdom. I will keep you and your family in our prayers. God Bless. Dennis Quinn

Gene.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I too lost my first wife in 2006 to lung and brain cancer.  You did our wedding and I believe it was your first as a photographer. Cancer is such a terrible disease and takes those so young.  Laurie was such a vibrant young woman.  I will say prayers for you and your family.  Unfortunately I work on Friday and won’t be able to attend the service.  Give my regards to your entire family and feel free to contact me on facebook.  Randy Herman

John and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to Laurie’s family, and especially to her mother Jean, upon Laurie’s passing.  It is a very difficult time for the entire family and especially when a parent loses a child, even an adult one.  Our hearts and prayers go out to Laurie’s entire family as we knew the Posipanko family at St. Philip’s Catholic Church.  May she rest in peace and may you be comforted in knowing she is now at peace and free of all her earthly woes.
With our deepest sympathy,
John and Nancy Straw
