Larry Lee Henson, Sr., 63

June 09, 2025

Larry Lee Henson, Sr., 63, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully after a 6 year battle with cancer on June 9, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Gordon William Henson and Barbara Jean (Myers) Rodriquez. He was with his beloved wife, Nancy (Sanchez) Henson for 49 years.

Larry attended J.P. McCaskey High School. He worked as a carpenter for Grossman and Flexsteel, and more recently in retirement enjoyed being a newspaper carrier for the LNP. A man of laughter, loyalty, and love — Larry was the “party” of every gathering. Whether you found him behind the grill, wearing his Eagles gear on game day, or hanging at the local pub where they called him “Jukebox Larry”. Often with a video camera recorded in one hand and a smile in the other, he made sure everyone around him felt like family.

He was the kind of man who believed in togetherness — who lit fires not just in grills, but in souls. A devoted husband, a proud father, an even prouder grandfather, and an honored great grandfather, he lived to make memories and fill the room with joy. He loved hard, laughed often, danced freely, rapped, and sang like no one was watching (even when everyone was).

Larry leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, humor, and unconditional love. We will carry his stories, his songs, his jokes, and his spirit with us — forever. In addition to Nancy, he is survived by 2 sons, Larry L. Henson, Jr. and Marcus L. Henson; 4 grandchildren: Jenice E. Henson, Larry L. Henson III, Nevaeh N. Henson, and Serenity C. Henson; great-grandson, Jaizon M. Burnside; and 6 siblings: Beverly Watt, Yvonne Grimes (Douglas), Theresa Mendez (Victor), Marilyn Culbreth (Roger), Marvin Henson, and George Henson. He was predeceased by 3 siblings: Gordon and Tyler Henson and Brenda (Henson) Brown; stepfather Luciano R. Rodriquez and stepmother Marcia Henson.

The family will receive guests from 10-11 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602. A service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Larry’s name to American Cancer Society.

LIFE of the PARTY he WAS!, we all looked forward to going to Uncle Larry’s for those outstanding, off the hook cookout’s, with family, friends, and that one big black boombox that only played station power 99 clear as hell, only for uncle larry, while we all had to use the antenna, or a hanger to find that clear connection.  Uncle Larry brought those happy vibes, you just knew you were in for a good time.  Gone but never forgotten the memories live on.
