Kevin B. Bergman, 63

March 27, 2022

Kevin Brett Bergman, 63, of Lititz, passed into the arms of his Savior on March 27, 2022 after a long illness. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was the son to the late George and Elaine (Gillett) Bergman in Salem, Ohio.

Kevin was well loved by everyone he met, and was known for his charming personality. Kevin worked in the hospitality industry at numerous hotels across the U.S. While in Lancaster, PA, he founded an organization called Lancaster Lodging and Meeting Association which promoted unity between local hotels. From 2005-2006, Kevin crafted and co-produced the Keystone International Balloon Festival. He was also an active member and staff at Lititz United Methodist Church as a small group leader and coordinator.

Perhaps his greatest achievement is the legacy he leaves as loving husband, father, and “Papa”. Kevin loved watching his kids and grandkids at sporting events, concerts, and lessons. He was happiest outside working in the garden or birdwatching with his wife.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patti; his children Matt (Rachel) Bergman, Brett (Amy) Bergman, Joshua (Meghan) Bergman, Breanna (Aaron) Hiller; six grandchildren and two on the way. He is also survived by siblings Mark (Maggie) Bergman, Robin (Louie) Pilch, and Stacy (Earl) Aldridge; He is preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Kim Brent Bergman.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on April 1, 2022 at Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 Market Street, Lititz, PA 17534. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. If desired, please donate in Kevin’s honor to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.

Condolences to the Family

Dear Patti and family,
We have so many memories of Kevin, and what he, and you all have meant to us over the years.  Personally, I don’t have friends from my high school or college days, so it is Kevin who counts as one of my longest and dearest friends.  Kevin was more than a friend, he was a brother.  I was honored to be able to give him rides from work on a weekly basis during the last few months of his life, and was so touched by his courage in winning this last earthly battle.  His faith in God and love of his family certainly sustained him.  When asked, he was honest about his pain during those last months, but never dwelt on it, rather quickly changing the focus to us, and what we and our children were up to, or to reminisce about good times in the past.  And of course, there were so many happy times to reminisce about!  Those memories included our shared times especially, but he also revealed some things we never knew about him because he was so reluctant to boast about himself.  He was so very proud of you, Patti, and how you were always there to support him,  and also of all of his children and grandchildren.  It brought him so much peace to know that you were in good places in your lives, and were there for one another, because true to the person he was, that was what mattered to him most, right to the end.  His faith was so strong, and you can rest assured that he lives on, not only in his heavenly home, but also in all of our hearts.

I am very sadenned to hear of Kevin’s passing.  I know he is resting in the Lord’s arms now.  I looked up to Kevin during my years at LUMC.  He was a true follower of Christ and had a servant’s heart.  He was a valuable Christian mentor to me and showed interest in guiding me to the next level of my faith journey.  I pray that everyone in the family will feel a sense of peace knowing Kevin is with his savior right now and we all will see him again one day.

Many fond memories of Kevin from high school. He was our quarterback who toughed it out under extreme conditions, even suffering heatstroke one time during double sessions! We played “Capture the Flag” at Saturday practices in the woods behind the school … by throwing stones while some of the team hid in an abandoned building! We loved his many pranks & also his singing three-part harmony in the locker room with Jim McClaren and his brother, Kim Bergman.  We send our deepest sympathy to all the family! Sincerely, Curt & Kyle Joanne Coffee

Moshe Feinroth.I had the good fortune of working with Kevin for close to 10 yrs.I was with him in The Inn of Reading then in Morgantown then in Lancaster. He was the most honest ,caring and compassionate person I met in the hotel business,He was way above the rest. The good lord tested him time after time and yet another time it never stopped ,but Kevin took it all like a lion he was so courageous and kept working until he finally was stopped. He always talked to me about his family his wife and children that kept him going. His faith was on a biblical level I will always remember him and hope his family will not feel the pain for too long, and just remember all the good he stood for .He is going to a better place ,but will always be remembered and missed!

I’ve been a friend and colleague of Kevin’s for many years in the hospitality industry.  Although he went through so many difficult days, he never wavered from his faith in God and consistently demonstrated a kind, gentle and humble spirit toward everyone he came in contact with.  While we will grieve his loss, heaven has gained a true servant of the Lord and I look forward to the day I can see Kevin again.
