Kathryn V. Weaver, 94
December 04, 2017
Kathryn V. Weaver, 94, of Strasburg Township passed away at her home surrounded by family on Monday, December 4, 2017, to be with her Lord. Kathryn was born in Ephrata Township on April 9, 1923 to John Wanner Gehr and Annie Miller Gehr. She was married to H. Carl Weaver for 52 years until his death in 1997. Kathryn managed her home and property while raising 4 children, the pride of her life. She devoted her life to their well-being and success.
Kathryn’s interests were family, church, music, and her home of 66 years, Stone Cliff, which she landscaped with unending attention as manifested in the gardens and the manicured grounds. In younger years, Kathryn’s lifelong appreciation of music found expression at the piano, organ and in the choir of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church of Strasburg. Her respite from the routine was time spent at her lake house in the mountains of Clinton County. Kathryn’s spirit was renewed from time spent at the cottage. Additionally, her faith guided her as a Sunday school teacher at St. Michael’s and later a member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She was also a founding member of the Lancaster chapter of PFLAG.
Kathryn was a lady of sterling character holding herself to the highest standard, treating all she encountered with warmth, civility and dignity…truly a lady of grace. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend who valued and loved all. Also, Kathryn treasured her four-footed children, Kallie, Toby and Bandit, who miss her greatly.
Surviving are her children John H. Weaver, Strasburg, Anne Weaver Lengacher, wife of Art Jr. (deceased), Gordonville, C. Michael Weaver, Esq., Strasburg and David G. Weaver, husband of Barbara, Lampeter; grandsons Timothy Weaver, Daniel Weaver and Carl Weaver, beloved brother George S. Gehr and innumerable nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express the deepest gratitude to Kathy Steinmetz, R.N., our friend, medical guide and “blessed angel”. A special thank you to Patricia Collins, for the blessed assistance, support and love given to her aunt and family. The family is grateful and indebted to Hospice and Community Care for the professional care and kindness shown to Kathryn.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 8, 1:00 P.M. at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd located at 750 Greenfield Road, Lancaster, PA 17601 with the Rev. Mark Russell officiating. The family will greet visitors from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Longenecker Reformed Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Kathryn’s memory may be made to The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or to Lancaster Farmland Preservation Trust at 125 Lancaster Avenue, Strasburg, PA 17579.

Our lovely and kind Aunt Kathryn was the best. She welcomed us to her home, a place with great cousins to roam around the woods and swim in the creek. Her devotion to family was returned by the support and care provided by her loving family and friends.

I have all good memories of Kathryn and going to summer picnics at her home. There were so many fun things to do. Kathryn was always an upbeat positive person and she lead an example for all of us. She will be missed.
