Julia B. “Julie” Patrick, 82
August 02, 2017
Julia B. “Julie” Patrick, of Bird-In-Hand, PA (near Leola), passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2017 at Ephrata Manor.
Julie was born on a farm near the village of Todd in Huntingdon County PA on March 12, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Orina (Warhatch) and Theodore Dubetz. Julie was married to J William “Bill” Patrick for 54 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son William J. Patrick and his wife Kimberley of Leola, a daughter Veronica wife of Andrew Grobengieser of Stevens; and by four granddaughters: Olivia, Emily, Katie, and Alison. She was the last member of her immediate family that included two sisters and seven brothers.
She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Julie came to Lancaster in 1956 and worked at RCA until her marriage to Bill in 1963. She became a full-time homemaker with the birth of their first child. She was well-known for her cooking and baking skills, particularly for her melt-in-your-mouth, made from scratch cream puffs, sticky buns, pierogies, and home-made bread.
Bowling and polkas dances were her favorite forms of recreation. Julie liked to travel and go on cruises. The ultimate road trip was a summer long, 10,000-mile trip covering 25 states.
When Bill retired, they acquired a farm next to Julie’s homestead in Huntingdon County, seven miles from Raystown Lake. Julie enjoyed “going home” and many weekends at the farm were filled with picnics, campouts, and hunting with family and friends. Julie was a loving person and her family was the love of her life and caring for her granddaughters was her pride and joy. Julie had a smile that would light up the darkness of midnight and endeared her to all who knew her. She and her smile will be sadly missed.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Ephrata Manor for their dedication, excellent care and concern for Julie while residing there.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 10-11AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, with the Mass to follow at 11AM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Julie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater PA Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
