Joyce and I have a long standing history of 40 years. She was intially my therapist to help me as I worked on my hours for my MFCC license but it quickly turned into a therapeutic relationship for me to deal with my broken past. We were both aware that God brought us together to do this redemptive healing work. It was my honor at the end of our work together to present in two of her classes at Lancaster Bible College once she and I both left California. Our realtionship evolved into a friendship. She often told me that she was my “functional mother” and at times called me “Daughter”. Such high honors. I vistited her on a regular basis once she was in Lancaster and we spoke regularly every 10-14 days on the phone, her inviting me into who the key people were in her family. She was indeed the most amazing person I have ever met or known. Genuine, authentic, intelligent, so very wise and exuded the wisdom of the Lord. She was very kind, loving, steadfast, faithful, trustworthy and really there for me. She listened with such depth of understanding. She was there for me through all of my struggles and joys. I was part of the chapters in a book she contributed to called “Working the Organizing Experience”. Joyce was a down to earth, easy to talk with and very non-judgemental and non-shaming. She has been a gift to my life and has made my life richer because of what and how she poured into me. She was definitely a woman filled with the Holy Spirit and she bore much rich fruit. I look forward to rejoicing with Joyce in heaven. I can hear her laughing with the Lord even now, can you? I love you Joyce, Pama Tavernier

My dearest Joyce,
How I will miss you! I thank God in knowing you and experiencing his great work through you in my life and the lives of my family. I will always treasure the sweet times of fellowship and travel together with our sweeties, Johnny and Doug. Of all the people in my life outside of family, you have had the most influence on my life and I will forever be grateful. I am thankful to have been able to express this to you in person over the years. I look forward to our reunion in heaven in the presence of our dear Jesus.
Always,
Michele Boyer

Joyce Hulgus was a very special Aunt. She was always there for me, and attended every special event in my life. She was my Aunt, my friend, my confidante, through happy and difficult times. She was one of the most generous people I have ever met. She will forever be close in my heart. ❤️
