Dear Marks Family,
We want to express our sympathy to each of you in your loss. I always enjoyed talking with Joyce when she was able to come to worship at Lancaster Church of the Brethren. I had a sister whose name was Joyce, also. May you feel God’s peace and comfort as time passes.
With warmth and love,

Dear Marks Family,
We extend our deepest sympathy to you. We knew your family for many years through the Lancaster Church of the Brethren. Even before that, my parents were very close friends of the Eshelman family.
Joyce and I shared a bond of loving to read until she could no longer do it.
I shall never forget the warm hospitality Jim and Joyce invited us to their home here at Brethren Village for dinner one evening. We also shared with them when Jim was critically ill. Lots of prayers brought us closer together.
I regret that lately I had not been in touch because of my own health problems. However, I still cherished our friendship which we agreed will be renewed “When we all get to Heaven!”
Sincerely, Joyce Whitacre Bohn

Jan and Jim, sorry to hear about your Mom. I like to think Mom and Dad are together again. I for one will never forget your folks sold us your Oldsmobile Cutlass for the low low price of $— ?? The car I drove my senior year of HighSchool!! I’ve passed the obituary around to family and church friends. Can’t wait to connect with Jim again. love, Sarah Brady Balcer.

Jim and Joyce were a wonderful and endearing Aunt and Uncle. They made one feel right at home. They both graduated Manchester College as I did and shared their stories and memories of their college days. Joyce took care of my 2 children for a week so that I could help my mother (Orpha) with medical needs. I visited them many times while they lived at Brethren village. We enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and taking walks together. I will miss her dearly.

Once on a visit to see my husband at BV I met Joyce in the community area. Several times our grandson visited BV and the joy it brought Joyce watching him learn to walk there. My deepest sympathy. May her soul rest in heaven.
