Josephine “Josie” Raubenstine, 95
December 26, 2025
Josephine “Josie” Raubenstine of Lancaster passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 26, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born to the late Dominic and Euleria Marcello in York, PA, and was a graduate of York Catholic High School. She spent her career as a secretary, first at Alcoa for many years and later for the Lancaster City Fire Department for 18 years. She went on to retire from the Lancaster City Health department.
In her younger years, she was a member of both the glee club and choir in high school. She was a longtime member of the Coterie Club for Women and was actively involved with the St. John Neumann Christmas Bazaar committee, as well as various bridge and dance clubs.
Josephine spent 71 wonderful years married to Robert “Bob” Raubenstine, who passed away in 2023. Together, they built a life rooted in love and family.
Josephine loved to dance and, alongside her beloved Bob, maintained a vibrant social life well into their 90s. She enjoyed playing cards—especially bridge and pinochle—and cherished the many trips she and Bob took together as snowbirds, often vacationing in one of her favorite places, Florida. She also found great joy in baking and cooking for the holidays, always preparing a large assortment of Christmas cookies each year. She loved the Bee Gees and listened to their music often.
Josie is survived by her children: Diane Mowrer (wife of Steve), Mark Raubenstine (husband of Carm), Karen Cataldo (wife of Tom), and Nancy Dean (wife of Rick). Her beloved grandchildren: Amy Baublitz, Kevin Raubenstine, Kyle Bear, Eric Bear, Michael Meck, and Jennifer Meck, as well as her great-grandchildren, Jude, Peyton and Iris Josephine. She is also survived by her sisters Laura Myers (wife of Ken), and Antoinette Stabley (wife of Donald and numerous surviving nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her son, John Raubenstine, her beloved husband, Robert and her sister Mary.
A celebration of Josie’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. The family invites guests to a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., prior to the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Josie will be laid to rest at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Josephine’s honor to Hospice and Community Care at hospiceandcommunitycare.org or to St. John Neumann Catholic School at sjncslancaster.org.
