Joseph E. Estes, 60

Joseph E. Estes, 60, of Lititz, passed away on February 3, 2022, at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Hospital. Born in Conyers, GA, he was the son of the late Reuben K. Jr. and Sarah C. Austin Estes. Joseph enlisted in the US Navy in 1981 and served his country until 1988 as an Aviation Support Equipmentman Third Class. He served on the aircraft carrier, USS Kitty Hawk, and was stationed at many airbases and naval stations throughout the world. While at Misawa Airbase in Japan, he was named the base’s Sailor of The Year in 1986 for his accomplishments.
Joe had been the owner and operator of Sid’s Auto Service in Lititz for 12 years. He had also worked at Roy’s Body Shop locally.
Always tinkering, Joe loved working with his hands and if anything needed fixing, he could do it. He was a member of Lititz VFW Post 1463, the Lexington Rod and Gun Club, and enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and boating.
He is survived by his children: Joseph R. married to Heather Estes of Manheim, and Leanna C. Brown of San Diego, CA; his grandchildren Sierra Estes, and Cameron and Madison Klinger; and his siblings Roy, Bill, Kenny, and Mike Estes. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby and his sister, Terri Gee.
Friends will be received by his family on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA from 5:30-6:30PM, with the Memorial Service to follow at 6:30PM. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Joe’s memory to the Hospice at Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042 Attn Jessica Hines, Nurse Manager.

Joe was one of the good guys… I will sure miss him. Lots of laughs & fun times at the garage. He helped my kids with their cars too. Thanks for everything, Joe. May God hold your family close in the days ahead.
