John Yeagley May, 92

John Y. May, 92, of Lititz, PA went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was the son of the late George M. and Martha Y. May, and brother of the late James Y. May.
May graduated from McCaskey High School, Lehigh University, and earned a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He did additional study at the University of Wisconsin and Drew University.
John was a staff manager in the communications field with Bell of Pennsylvania for 29 years in the Pittsburgh area, and then a research support analyst for the University of Pittsburgh’s neurosurgery department for 9 years.
Upon retirement, John devoted 25 years as a staff volunteer for Christian learning and resource centers, most recently with the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. In 1982, he launched the Dwight Lecture in Christian Thought at the University of Pennsylvania and served as its academic coordinator for 15 years.
An avid tennis player, May had been a two-year letterman on Lehigh University’s varsity team. He devoted two years to active military service with the U.S. Army. He has authored 20 journal articles. He attended Millersville Bible Church.
John is survived by nephew James B. May of Japan, niece Julia May Pearson of the Grand Rapids area, nephew George L. May of Lancaster, and their families.
Memorial services will be held at 2PM, Friday, November 28, 2025, at Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Friends will be received following the service. No visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to America’s Keswick Conference Center, 601 Route 530, Whiting, NJ 08759.
