John T. Quirk, 76
John T. Quirk, 76, of 31 Glenwood Ave., Lancaster, died Thursday morning at his residence.
He was the husband of Linda “Lynn” R. Sharp Quirk, with whom he would have celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this coming June 7th. He was formerly married to the late Marion L. Derr Quirk, who died in 1990. Born in Lavelle, PA, John was the son of the late James and Pauline Staltzer Quirk.
Working in the liquor business for nearly 40 years, John had last worked in June of 2005 as a salesman for 15 years for Charles Jacquin Inc. of Philadelphia. He was also involved for many years, along with his wife, Lynn, in the Lancaster Tavern Association.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 867.
John, a big Notre Dame fan, loved sports, playing minor league baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization, and coaching the St. Anthony’s basketball team in the Parochial League. He enjoyed playing both basketball and baseball in several city and county leagues over the years.
He was a member of the Commercial Travelers Assn.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by 3 children: John T., Jr., married to Shirley Quirk of Shelbyville, KY; Brenda L., married to John Alexander and David T. Quirk, both of Lancaster; 2 stepchildren: Kimberly married to Tony Newman of Tennessee and Jere married to Gina Geib of Elizabethtown; 2 grandchildren: Diana Wentz and Thomas Alexander; and by 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers, William Quirk of Hatboro and Joseph Quirk of Lansdale.
Friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fountain Springs, PA.
