Obituary

John J. Palmer, 74, of Willow Street , went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 26, 2006.

Born in Johnstown , he was the son of the late John F. and June Stem Palmer.  He was the husband of Anna Marie Dluhos Palmer.  They celebrated their 49 th wedding anniversary on September 7 th .

John worked as a supervisor in the machine shop at Armstrong World Industries for thirty-two years.  He retired in 1995.

An active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, John was an usher, a Eucharistic Minister, and served on parish council. He was also a member  of the Millersville VFW Post #7294 and the American Legion Post # 34.

During the Korean War, he served in the US Army as a corporal with the military police and the army intelligence.

An, avid sports fan, John loved Notre Dame Football.  John was also a family man and cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, John P. married to Gretchen L. (Zerphy) Palmer of Lititz; grandchildren, Kristen and Zachary Frey, Kelly and Kerry Palmer all of Lititz; a great grandson, Ethan Frey of Lititz; a brother, George married to Jane Palmer of Pittsburgh; sisters, Betty married to Leo Bimle of Johnstown; Doris Terek of Elizabethtown; Patricia married to Robert Huff of SC; and Kathleen Daniel of Chicago.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Cook.

A Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St. , Lancaster , PA 17603 on Thursday at 10a.m.  Interment in St. Joseph' s New Catholic Cemetery .  Friends may attend the viewing at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
