John Edwin Marshall, 71

John Edwin Marshall, 71, of Gap, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Israel William Henry Marshall and Carrie Davis Marshall.
John, also affectionately known as “Sir John”, was a graduate of Pequea Valley High School. After graduation, he worked briefly at the Boys and Girls Club in Lancaster. Soon after, John enlisted in the US Air Force and served honorably during the Vietnam Era as a dental technician. He was stationed in the Philippines, Germany, Iraq, and Kuwait. John was a member of various local VFWs, AMVets, American Legions, and the moose. He was known to give out roses to every woman he saw on Valentine’s Day. He will be remembered for his patriotic spirit and generous heart.
John is survived by 5 siblings: Clarabell Gantz (Alvin), Charles Marshall (Tina), Joseph Marshall, Michael Marshall (Brenda), and Paul Marshall (Cynthia); as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by 2 brothers: Vernon and James Marshall.
Friends and family will be welcomed on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602 from 6-8PM, and on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 10-11 AM with a funeral service to follow. Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with honors on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in John’s name to Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster.

My condolences to John’s family. I served with John at the 913th AW. He taught me a trick of using your belt to tie your head to the C-130 sling seats when on long flights so you could sleep! Always a gentleman. Lee dePersia

I think about him from time to time remembering our friendship our time we spent together and how we confided in each other. The years have grown between us but our friendship lasts forever.
