John D. “Jack” Edgerton, 73
John D. “Jack” Edgerton, 73, of Lititz, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Moravian Manor after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Mansfield, he was the son of the late Ellsworth and Sarah Stevens Edgerton. He was the husband of Elaine M. Fritz Edgerton and they celebrated 29 years of marriage on January 14th.
Mr. Edgerton was an educator for 36 years in the Pottstown and Lititz areas. From 1972-1980, he was the Principal at Lititz Elementary. Before retirement in 1995, he was a teacher at John Beck Elementary School. Jack was a graduate of Mansfield College and received his masters from Temple University. He joined the Coast Guard before college and served for 2 ½ years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Manheim, and the Manheim Masonic Lodge 587. Jack loved his family, friends, and music.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Craig J. Edgerton, married to Arydth, of Boyertown, and Jill Edgerton, of Conn.; stepdaughters: Angela Gehris, married to Patrick, of Lancaster, Courtney Miller, married to Timothy, of Lititz; grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler, Laken, Adam, Mackenzie, and Chase; and his brothers, Walter “Skip” Edgerton, of Elmira, NY, and James Edgerton, of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy E. Edgerton.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 1PM. Friends will be received by the family from 12NOON until the time of service. Interment will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial contributions in Jack’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 90 S. Charlotte St., Manheim, PA 17545.
