JoAnn Roland, 68
December 30, 2025
JoAnn Roland of Aberdeen, MD, passed away unexpectedly in her Lancaster home on Tuesday, December 30th. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Extraordinarily quick-witted and highly successful despite only some college education, she relentlessly served as our small family’s matriarch. JoAnn’s powerful logic and analytical mind ignited her passion as a managerial claims analyst, a theatrical and musical arts enthusiast with an uncanny flare for botany. Coupled with a strong sense of wisdom and grit, she was often the one to make the supposed impossible quite possible. JoAnn’s greatest gift to all was her strength, perseverance, and keen listening abilities. Unrivaling in her ability to provide sound advice and manage a home, she preserved the tradition and comfort in our family. Having battled and overcome many illnesses requiring hospitalizations, she prevailed nearly consistently.
Her loss leaves an irreplaceable hole in our hearts, and her memory shall remain eternal; particularly for surviving members: her husband, Douglas A Roland of Lancaster, her children: Kathryn Roland and John Roland, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dennis Roland and Donna McGinnis, and her beloved grandson, August.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 10am to 11am at Charles Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. 17543 with a celebration of life to begin at 11am.
