Jim and I always enjoyed coming to your store for a great steak sandwich.  It was even more fun when Joan was there helping.  We got to know her as well and we enjoyed having you both as friends.  Take care of yourself, Herb.  I know the days can get long and lonely, especially over winter.  I wish you the best and find new things to do.  Don’t know when I’ll see you again, but thanks for being a great friend to Jim and I.

Dear Herb,
I know you will hear this often, but “time” will truly be the way to finding peace and happiness again.  Joan will always be in your heart and on your mind.  I learned when I lost my husband, that each day seemed like a struggle.  And then one day, I realized I wasn’t consumed with sadness.  And then, there were more good days than bad.  And now, I can think of my husband and even laugh about things he used to do that drove me crazy.                                                      It’s a tough road, and nobody can walk it for you.  So, allow your family and friends to help you when you need it.
                               With caring thoughts,
                               Doreen
