Jean Kuehner Anderson, 83
Jean Kuehner Anderson, 83, passed away February 25, 2012, at Brethren Village, Lancaster, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of John H. Anderson for more than 61 years. Born in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late John G. and Gertrude E. Stepper Kuehner.
Jean was educated at Girls High and West Chester University. She and John worked at an off-campus restaurant, fell in love, and married shortly after graduation. They moved to Michigan where she taught kindergarten for six years. When Levittown, PA, opened its doors the Andersons returned to Pennsylvania where Jean taught kindergarten in the Neshaminy School District.
She sang in church choirs and became involved in church work wherever they lived, particularly the Mountainhome United Methodist Church. Jean and John both accepted early retirement to enjoy 20 years traveling throughout the U.S. and living at their retirement home in the Pocono Mountains. Many enjoyable winters were spent in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas before entering Brethren Village.
Jean and John had a perfect marriage and Jean was the most wonderful sweetheart, mother and grandmother. She had many talents, including pianist, linguist, handcrafter and artist, which she shared with her neighbors. She was devoted to her family and her greatest pleasure was spending time with them. She especially enjoyed reading to and playing games with her nine grandchildren. Jean was loved by all who knew her and she will be sorely missed.
In addition to John, Jean is survived by a daughter, Susan, wife of Richard Stetler, Warrington, PA, two sons, Patrick J. Anderson, DO, husband of Marian, Pequea, PA, and Michael D. Anderson, husband of Cindy, Denver, PA, and nine grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her sister Gertrude E. Wagner.
