James L. Douts, 91

James L Douts, 91, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. He shared 56 years of marriage with his loving wife Marilyn S. Schwarz Douts. Born in Lancaster, on June 13, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Ada W. Erb Douts.

He was a 1954 graduate of Manheim Township High School. A veteran of the US Army who served 18 months in Germany (SP3 Corporal). Jim participated in apprenticeship training at Thaddus Stevens. Jim was then an electrician and longtime member of IBEW Local unions 414 and 743. He was a member of the American legion Post 34. Jim was also a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Jim enjoyed watching the Phillies, Barnstormers, and Penn State football. He coached Jr. Midget baseball for IBEW Local 414.

In additional to his wife Marilyn, Jim is survived by his daughter, Susan M Douts, and his sister E. Irene Potts.

He is predeceased in death by nine siblings, C. Herbert Douts, Edyth M. Menditch, William C. Douts, Helen L. Friant, Doris Ann Douts, John E. Douts, Julia F. Douts, Gerald E. Douts and Fred A. Douts.

Jim will be laid to rest at Saint Josephs New Catholic Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

This was a great man.  Was my coach for 2 seasons,  local 414 electros. Taught me as much about life,  as he did about baseball.  May he RIP

Mr Douts was my brothers’ baseball coach many years ago.  He was such a nice man and he and Ralph were very influential in creating a group of fine young men.  So much so, that all these years later we still remember them fondly.  Please accept our heartfelt condolences.  Anita C Kelly
