James J. Bock, 74
October 31, 2025
James J. Bock, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at UPMC hospital on October 31, 2025.
Fatherhood was his greatest joy. He was present, engaged & endlessly supportive, showing his sons by example what it meant to lead with kindness & put family first. His family was the center of his world & his love for them was evident in everything he did every day.
Born and raised in Levittown, New York, James spoke fondly of his Long Island childhood and delighted friends and family with vivid stories that brought his long Island roots to life. He had a remarkable gift for storytelling, he could captivate any audience with tales from his childhood, anecdotes from Lititz or simple daily observations. His quick wit & impeccable sense of humor made him the life of every gathering. He was always ready with a joke or a perfectly timed quip.
James was successful in business & in life, working with his father in the start-up of Stereo Barn & Country Image. He and Sandy later worked side-by-side for more than 25 years as owners of Past & Present, a business which brought him great joy & many new friends & experiences.
James made Lititz his home for the past 48 years. This is where he built a legacy of kindness, generosity & service to his community. Deeply committed to giving back, he volunteered on numerous committees including the Warwick Youth Aid Panel, Rails to Trails, the Recreation Board & Lititz Bike Program.
He was very proud to serve for many years as president of the Lititz Youth Soccer Club, growing the program, fostering teamwork & a genuine love for the game.
Known for his warmth & magnetic personality, James never met a stranger. He was everyone’s friend, quick with a helping hand, a listening ear or a hearty laugh. His incredible sense of humor lit up every room. James leaves behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. He showed us how to love deeply, laugh often & serve others selflessly. The stories he told will be retold, bringing smiles again & again.
He lived a life of purpose, meaning & joy. He understood what truly mattered—love, family & generosity. Though our hearts are filled with grief, we take comfort knowing he lived exactly as he wanted, surrounded by family, supported by friends, engaged in his community & filled with laughter until the end.
James is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Sandy; his three sons, Chris (Cari), Ryan and Jamie (Dana); and seven cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Brian (Linda), William (Deb), Elizabeth and Charles (Patti). He was preceded in death by his
parents, Charles N. Bock and Elizabeth (Oechsler) Bock, and by his brothers Robert (Lillian) and Ken (Karen).
A celebration of James’s life will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz PA, on December 12th from 2:00–4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories and honor the legacy of a man whose spirit will live on in the love he gave so freely.
