James E. “Jim” Duffy, 92, died September 17, 2017 at Brethren Village, Lancaster. He was born May, 31, 1925, in McCalls Ferry, PA, the son of the late Charles A. and Pearl (Wietzel) Duffy, and was married to Geraldine (Shellenberger) Duffy, who passed away in 1984.
He is survived by two nephews; Robert Duffy, Columbia, PA, Michael Duffy and wife Jan, Washington Borough, PA two nieces; Donna Peters and husband Melo, New Providence, PA, Carol Eich and husband David, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, great-nephew and his caregivers, Kevin Duffy and wife Carol, Lancaster, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Duffy and sister-in-law, Madeline Duffy.
Jim was proud of being a Control Room Operator for PPL, Holtwood, and he retired after 40 years of service. He was also very proud of being a United States Veteran of WW II, serving in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Hornet CV12 in the Pacific Theater, and had received numerous medals and ribbons for his service. Jim also enjoyed his time boating on the Susquehanna river for many years.
