For more than 20 years Jim and I trecked to what ever AP Grading site they sent us to. I met him at Clemson in the 90’s and we established a friendship that was unique in that it was same time next year. He was a part of the Proffesional Readers Incorporated Community (PRICS) that we formed at Clemson University. We shared many of meals over the time. A friend who will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. What a tremendous loss, not only to the educational community but to all he touched in every aspect of his life. As a history buff, he solidfied my enthusiasm in the classroom back in 1967-68, not only because of his vast knowledge but also because the way he taught, making everyone in the class seem special. And he made history exciting –making you want to come back for more, quite an achievement. He was my favorite teacher and my grades reflected just how much he touched me. I was lucky enough to be included in his tennis group at Olde Hickory for a few years back in the seventies which was quite a thrill for me. He will be missed by many many people. My heart and prayers go out to his family. Good men are hard to find. And he was one of them.

On behalf of Howard’s Appliances, our prayers and condolences are with the entire Riddle family. I can say that John Riddle has spoken many times of his beloved brother Jim and what an inspiration he was to John. John said many times that Jim was his most impactful mentor of his life. Jim’s legacy as a teacher and mentor lives on through John and I am sure many others.

I hard the good fortune to know Jim as a friend and fellow educator at Millersville and Conestoga Valley. He loved history and was a dynamic teacher who could lead his students in insightful and challenging discourse. He was very supportive of other teachers. He gave freely of his time and talents. Gone too soon, may you RIP Jim.

Jim Riddle was a huge part of my life in so many different ways over the years. He was the father of my lifetime best friend (Mike) and our families spent considerable time together in the neighborhood growing up. When Mike and I were young he would challenge us to 2 on 1 basketball against him and he held his own until we were both at least 9 or 10 years-old. In my 20s he became a key mentor as I transitioned careers to become a teacher and he was instrumental in helping me succeed and grow in that vocation. I will always remember and cherish his sense of humor and our many discussions about history.

My sincere condolences to the entire family. I was one of Jim’s students at Conestoga Valley in 1969-71, and he was an excellent teacher. My love of American history and constitutional law was sparked by his passion for teaching. He truly cared about his students and their progress. I am very sorry for your loss but hope you know that he was a great influence on many students and he left a wonderful legacy.
