Jackalyn Christine Paulukow, 26
July 10, 2013
Jackalyn Christine Paulukow, 26, of East Petersburg, passed away after a 15 month battle with ovarian cancer on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of John P. and Sarah M. (Barton) Paulukow.
Jackie was a 2005 graduate of Hempfield High School and attended at Lock Haven University. She was a receptionist at Mercedes Benz of Lancaster; also a hostess and shift supervisor for Ramono’s Macaroni Grill Restaurant. She worked at the East Petersburg Community Pool for many summers as a life guard, office assistant and giving swimming lessons. Jackie enjoyed Girl Scouts, softball, basketball, soccer, rugby, and writing poetry, letters and stories. She enjoyed life, loved hanging out and socializing with her friends. Jackie was the “life of the party.” One of her wishes was to get to Disney World this year and she got to go in January 2013, to forget about the real world for a while. We all had a great time together and shared some “magical moments.”
Jackie had bright blue eyes and an unforgettable smile. She kept that smile through her battle with cancer. She left an impression on everyone she met. Jackie had a heart of gold that will never be forgotten.
In addition to her parents, Sarah and John, Jackie is survived by a sister Andrea West, wife of Nathaniel, of Mechanicsburg, PA; maternal grandmother, Margot Geisler of Winter Haven, FL; aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends.
Family and friends will be received from 5-7PM on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will also be received on Monday, July 15, 2013 from 10-11AM at Trinity United Church of Christ, 2340 State Street, East Petersburg, PA 17520 followed by a Memorial Service at 11AM with Rev. Christopher Rankin officiating. Interment will be at East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jackalyn’s memory to Jackalyn C. Paulukow Benefit Fund (Jack Attack Fund), 6429 Fairfax Circle, East Petersburg, PA 17520; Fox Chase Cancer Center Institutional Advancing, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Our family knew Jackie from East Pete Pool where she gave my son and another little girl swimming lessons. I felt that I needed to write you and let you know how good she was with them. My son loved his lessons with Jackie. She was always so kind to them and always had a smile on her face. She will be remembered fondly as a wonderful girl by our family and I am so sorry for your loss.

I will remember the Jackie’s big, beautiful smile that she alway wore. She had a love of life that couldn’t be matched. I will always remember her on-point impression of me screaming on the rugby pitch. She was a Hell of a rugger, a tough fighter, and an awesome person! She will be missed! Ruby love, Kendra

My family & I met Jackie @ E-Pete pool years ago. She taught both my daughters to swim & was always quick to offer encouragement, a smile or wipe their tears and fix up their stubbed toes and skinned knees.
We always looked forward to her 4th of July pool games and loved watching her participate with the kids & she would laugh as much as they did.
“Miss Jackie” was a truly wonderful girl and she will always be remembered by our family. We are so sorry to hear of her passing.

Words are inadequate to express the sadness so many have felt this week. May her loved ones be comforted in remembering the blessings she brought to their lives and the comfort of knowing she is now in His glorious presence, free of pain and lighting up the heavens with her beautiful smile. Rest in Peace, Jackie
