Jack R. Nicholson, 16

October 26, 2018

Jack R. Nicholson, 16, of Lititz, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Donna Nicholson Stief, married to Roger Stief of Lititz and James Ramsey of West Conshohocken, PA.
Jack was in his junior year at Warwick High School, where he just joined the wrestling team this year. While in middle school, he had played football and lacrosse. Jack had been a Golden Gloves boxer for the past 3 years, training at the Terry Nye Gym.
He loved to snowboard, ride his Big Ripper Wheelie bike, and watching football and MMA matches. He liked to help with home projects, with a talent for welding and woodworking. Over the summers, he mowed lawns to save money to buy his first car.
He attended LCBC with his family.
In addition to his mother, stepfather and father, he is survived by his siblings: David “DT” Nicholson, Madison “Maddie” Stief, and Kelsey Blakeslee; his grandparents Linda Nicholson, Don Nicholson companion of Donna Sparacino, Mary and Maurice Ramsey, and Natalie and Ray Stief; and by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jack is also survived by his girlfriend Julia Eshleman. Jack also loved his cat, Checkers Marie that he’s had for 14 years.
Jack’s family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, the physicians and staff at Lancaster General Hospital, the Warwick School District staff and his fellow students, their LCBC church family, friends and neighbors, and local schools and their students for all of the love and support offered to them.
Friends will be received by Jack’s family on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2-4PM at the West Wing Auditorium of LCBC Manheim, 2392 Mount Joy Rd., Manheim, PA with the service promptly beginning at 4:30PM. Please enter at the South Auditorium Entrance. Interment will be private at Witness Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Jack’s memory to Bible2School, 1653 Lititz Pike, #131, Lancaster, PA 17601 or online at www.bible2school.com.

Donna,
Although it has been a while, my brain can still not comprehend this well and it’s still difficult for me to get over this. I listened to your speech at Jack’s funeral and it was very touching and it’s something I will never forget, I was astounded by how strong you are emotionally, especially when you spoke about the driver who caused the crash and how you showed no anger but rather an empathy. I can only imagine how you are feeling as a parent who has to go through this and eternal pain in your heart. I did not know Jack at all but he seemed amazing and I wish I had the chance to meet him in this life. Keep doing what you’re doing, and always know that us students of Warwick are here for you and your family. 🙂

My name is Linda Butcher,  Robert and I are Isaac Butcher’s grandparent in Maryland.  We had the pleasure of getting to know Jack when he came to our house with Isaac.  He is such a great kid.  So kind and appreciative.  He was always willing to help do anything.  Once when he was at our house a good friend of mine was there and she had just gotten an Ipad, she had no idea how to use it and Jack taught her all kinds of things and even gave her his cell phone number in case she needed any more help.  Jack was something else.  always with that big beautiful smile.  I am so sad for you all.  Such a terrible loss this is.  I pray for peace for your family and comfort knowing that we will all get to see Jack again when we get to heaven.  We will  miss him

My daughters and I just attended the service for Jack this evening. Such a beautiful celebration of his life. I wanted you all to know that you are in our hearts and prayers. May you find peace in knowing that jack is with his Lord. We absolutely adored Jack and will never forget that beautiful contagious smile or the laughter. The last time I saw jack, we were at Sheetz and he ran over to say hello and hug my daughter. He gave her younger sister 2 fidget spinners, which made her entire day! Such an amazing kid. You should be proud of who he was and know that he was truly special. We will NEVER forget you Jack! ♥️
Love and Deepest Condolences,
Elizabeth, Peyton and Savahannah W. ♥️

Our hearts grieve with you at the loss of your precious Jack. Jansen our 17 yr old son was friends with Jack thru 7th grade then he began attending LCS but stayed friends with Jack. We attended his funeral today on Jansen’s Birthday. The funeral was so touching especially the part you shared Donna, as his mom that took great courage and strength, I was praying for you. The words came from your heart so touching with your family surrounding you. Remember this: the same arms that hold you, are now holding your precious Son and brother. May Jesus continue to carry you. Love and prayers Randy & Jana & Jansen Martin

Dear Roger and Family,
Unfortunately, no words can reduce the suffering over the loss of a child. Having lost my sister, Sue, when she was 15 allows me to emphasize with your other children. Your wife and your life will never be the same but please support each other. Everyone grieves differently. There is not a time limit for greiving. When you think of Jack think of the fun moments you spent together and a smile will come across your face. Cherish his memories. Write your memories of Jack in a journal while they are fresh in your mind. Take care of eachother and yourselves. I am so sorry for the loss of your precious son, Jack.

We lost our son 19 years ago in a car accident. It felt like my chest was crushed and I don’t believe I could take a deep breath for months. Talking to God every day when we sit down for meals helped us. We still ask God to tell Bryan “hello” and we love and miss him everyday. We attend LCBC too and if you ever need anything the church has our number. In this time of sorrow know you are loved!
With deepest sympathy

Dear Nicholson family:  We are so very sorry for the loss of Jack.  Our Meghan knew Jack through Bonfield and Julia; but Dennis and I did not know him very well.  However, we recall seeing him attend many of Julia’s FH events.  He was always very personable and polite.  He will be dearly missed.  God bless you all.

November 01, 2018

Dear family of Jack,
My heart aches for you as you have to say good bye to your precious loved one.   What a fine looking young man he was.  So much life ahead of him.  My prayer is that he known the Lord as his Saviour.  If so,  I pray that that fact alone will bring you much comfort.   I have lost two sons,  both to cancer so I did know somewhat the pain you’re feeling.   But in my case,  I was able to say good bye.   May the all knowing God give you all peace as you going forward in the coming days, months and years.   Love you all.
