Harold J. “Hal” Plamjack, 90

Harold J. “Hal” Plamjack, 90, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Moon Plamjack, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Meyer and Lillian Plamjack.
Hal was a 1948 graduate of MIT, earning a BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer for RMC and later for Hewlett Packard for 37 years.
He was a member of the South Shore Power Squadron on Long Island, and he taught navigation.In addition to boating, he enjoyed classical music and served on the Board of Allegro. Food was his great passion along with good with a good bottle of wine. Throughout his life, Hal had a love for cars and watches
After retirement, he worked at Lancaster General Hospital as a pusher and receptionist in the OR area. He was an volunteer for the American Cancer Society as a driver and scheduler in Lancaster County. In addition, Hal spent many years volunteering his time to read for the blind on the radio.
A World War II Navy veteran, Hal served as an Electronics Technician’s Mate Second Class.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Michelle married to Dr. Ira Rappaport of Lancaster, Marla married to Paul Robbins of Stuart’s Draft, VA, Jonathan Plamjack of Lititz, Christopher married to Elizabeth Zebuth of Coram, NY and David married to Diane Zebuth of Stony Brook, NY; his 11 grandchildren and his 15 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 11am-12 noon at Church of The Apostles, 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA, with the Memorial Service to follow at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Hal’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
