Harold “Hal” Richard Hinerdeer, 94

Harold “Hal” Richard Hinerdeer, 94, of Lancaster, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
He was the son of the late Laura Adams Hinerdeer and Henry B. Hinerdeer, and the loving husband of Annette Wolf Hinerdeer, to whom he was married for 66 years.
Hal graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter mechanic aboard the USS Maury in the Persian Gulf during the Korean War. After completing his military service, he graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1985, he retired from ITT Grinnell in Columbia, PA, where he served as Supervisor of the Drafting Department.
He was an avid follower of Eagles football and loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Hal and his wife served as campground hosts at Gifford Pinchot State Park for 14 years. They were honored with the DCNR Conservation Milestone Hours Award for 2,500 hours of volunteer service. Hal also built, donated, and maintained over 100 bluebird houses for the campground.
Harold and Annette were devoted members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lancaster for over 60 years.
He is survived by his wife, Annette; his son, Bryan Hinerdeer (Ruth Shutt Hinerdeer); and his daughter, Beth Hinerdeer Lynch (Brian Lynch). He was blessed with four grandchildren: Eric Hinerdeer (Sarah), Katie Hinerdeer, Dalton Lynch, and Zoey Lynch; and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Mason.
Also surviving is his sister, Shirley Krentz. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Long and Doris LeGrand, and his brother, Donald Hinerdeer.
A private family service was held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, with full military honors.
