Hale A. Johnson, 88
November 18, 2025
Hale A. Johnson, 88, of Lancaster, went to be with his Lord on November 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Kansas City, MO, he was the eldest son of Gus H. and Beatrice E. Johnson. He shared over 53 years of love, memories, and faith with his beloved wife Mary “Molly” (Castor) Johnson.
Hale will be remembered as a man deeply rooted in his faith in God and his love for his family. A long-time active member of Calvary Church, he served as an Elder, assisted with Global Ministries, and co-taught the Open Door Adult Bible Fellowship for over 46 years. Hale was the definition of a man with a servant’s heart.
In his leisure time, he delighted in spending time with his family. The memories and quality time they spent together on their annual vacations will forever be cherished. He also enjoyed birdwatching, camping, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Phillies.
His memory will live on in his loving wife Molly, their daughters, Lynn Johnson of Hummelstown, and Judy Marley, wife of John of East Petersburg, and brother Alan R. Johnson (Judy) of Sylvania, OH. He was preceded in passing by his parents.
A Funeral Service honoring Hale will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd. Lanc. PA 17601, beginning at 2 PM. The family will greet guests from 1 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Calvary Church Global Ministries Department at the address above.

Hale was a wonderful person to know during my time at RCA. He and I often wound up in places like Scranton and Marion IN trying to make new picture tube designs really be manufacturable at the factory. This involved long hours on the factory floor and gourmet dining at the local Burger King. Through all the stress Hale’s smiling face and calm demeanor kept us chugging along. Thank you for all the wonderful times together.

Dear Molly and family
Nancy and I want to express our condolence at the loss of Hale after so many happy years together. We have strong memories of our time together in Singapore and Indonesia over 50 years ago. Then we met you and Hale and your girls at Christmas in 1981 (we have photos in our album of all 4 of you and your house – 2nd from the green one!)
Inevitably you will be sad but you will have the comfort of your Christian faith and family. As we grow older (91 and 87yrs) we increasingly learn the importance of family.
