H.T. “Cork” Roschel, 73

H.T. “Cork” Roschel, 73, of Willow Street, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was born in Lancaster, PA and was the son of the late Charles and Anna Mae (Markley) Roschel. He was the loving husband to JoAnn (Horst) Roschel with whom he was married to for over 47 years.
Cork was a 1960 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and went on to work as a Security Design Engineer at RCA, ISC Technologies, and WACOR.
He enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, golfing, playing softball, watching Philadelphia sports and Penn State football, but most of all was a family man who loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and theater performances.
Cork proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lancaster.
In addition to his wife, JoAnn, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy M. Herr wife of Brendon of Mount Joy; his son, Commander Michael Roschel husband of Kathy (Witmer) of North Kingstown, RI; four grandchildren, Katelyn, Logan, Cole and Nolan; two brothers, Dr. Robert Roschel husband of Ann and Ronald Roschel husband of Francis both of Lancaster. He is preceded in death by his siblings,
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St, Lancaster, PA with Rev. Stephen Kelly as Celebrant. A Visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cork’s memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc. 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

I worked with Cork for about a dozen years at ISC. It was a totally enjoyable experience. Cork was not only a highly competent manager, but was also a lot of fun to be with. He was always ready to listen and had a sharp wit. He will be sorely missed.
