Dear June:
Every time I drive down East Chestnut Street, I think of your mom and dad and the place where my (unfulfilled) dream to be a hairdresser was born. I can still see both of them in their crisp white uniforms….what a handsome couple. I loved going in there and watching them. I don’t know if they ever remembered that I did that as a little girl, but I do.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I hope you are doing well.
Fondly,
Dawn Banzhof
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I loved working with Gordon at the carlot. Gordon had a unique way of making you think and laugh at the same time. I remember and use so many of his sayings and how he introduced me to squirrel potpie and red beets. He was a man of great character and stood firm in what he believed. We will miss him down here but I am sure heaven welcomes him.

Dear Ivon, June, Mike and all of Gordon’s family members,
I am sorry to hear that Gordon has passed on and hope you can find comfort within yourselves somehow. I am sure Gordon is in good hands now. I can be certain of this because I was lucky enough to work along side of Gordon for 10 years, and know what kind of person he truly was. While trying to learn some of all he knew about automobiles, I could see the determined, resourceful, self taught way, he constantly acquired knowledge, and solved problems. Not only with automobiles, in so many other subject areas too. He certainly was a good example of The Greatest Generation. To have been a paratrooper in World War II, three Bronze Stars, all the knowledge he had, the twinkle in his eyes when he was having fun, with also an interesting, more serious, analytical, and philosophical side of Gordon. Yes Gordon made all of us at Davis And Son very blessed to work day in, and day out, with him. What a great personality and guy he always was to be with. I know my father enjoyed Gordon, and I will always remember with much fondness, the memories our lunches the three of us had each work day. Yes, Gordon is in good hands I am certain. Be sure and take care of yourselves. Knowing Gordon, he would want it that way.
Sincerely, Glenn Davis
