Gerald Raymond “Gerry” Reese, 82

June 22, 2025

Gerald Raymond “Gerry” Reese, 82, of Manheim, passed away on June 22, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ellsworth and Minnie (Ewing) Reese. He was married to his beloved wife Gayle A. (West) Reese.

Gerry was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. Soon after, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving honorably and proudly during Vietnam as an air policeman and K-9 handler. Gerry was also employed by PPL for over 41 years and retired as a systems operator. Gerry was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Knights Templar, Shriners, and 1st Masonic District School of Instruction. He was an avid Disney fan and enjoyed traveling down the east coast, making sure to stop at each Cracker Barrel along the way. Having worked with dogs in the military, Gerry was an avid dog lover. He will be affectionately remembered for his animated spirit, loving heart, and ability to always speak his mind.

In addition to Gayle, Gerry is survived by his sister Betty Michael (Mike), 4 step-children: Kimberly Gentile (Barry), Thomas Cabral, Jr. (Nathan McCarthy), Gary Ressler, and Tammy DeSantis (Dave); 4 grandchildren: Ashley (Cameron), Joshua (Danielle), Juliana, and Jillian; and 1 great-granddaughter Ellie.

So sorry for your loss. Gerry will be missed and always in our memories.                                            Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much. Rich and Sue
