Gerald (Jerry) John Bertoli, 87
May 10, 2024
Gerald (Jerry) John Bertoli, aged 87, passed away in his sleep on May 10, 2024. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Peter and Elsie (Brunelli) Bertoli.
Jerry graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1955, where he showcased his athletic prowess in football, basketball, and baseball. Following high school, he pursued higher education at Lebanon Valley College.
His professional journey led him to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, where he served as a dedicated manager for 39 years. Throughout his tenure, Jerry earned numerous sales awards while managing a successful sales team.
He was a devout member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years. Additionally, he was a longtime member of the Conestoga Country Club and the Columbia Middletown Elks Club. An avid golfer, Jerry cherished his time on the green.
Jerry’s passion for sports extended beyond the golf course; he was a fervent supporter of Notre Dame football and the New York Yankees. He found solace in fishing and hunting, often retreating to his “cabin in the sky” in Tioga County for over 50 years.
In his leisure moments, Jerry could be found in his garage, enjoying a cigar and a drink while watching sports. He lived life by the mantra of his favorite song, “My Way” by Frank Sinatra.
Above all, Jerry’s greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He was very proud of their accomplishments and supported them in all of their endeavors over the years. Jerry enjoyed family gatherings but always cherished their annual family vacation in Ocean City, Maryland. Most recently, he was thrilled to become a great-grandpa and know that the Bertoli name will continue.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Diane (Carl) Bertoli, his children: Brett (Wendy) Bertoli and Kristen (Andrew) Zulkosky, his grandchildren: Brittany Bertoli, Brandon (Malia) Bertoli, Danielle, and Lindey Zulkosky, and his great-grandchild: Orion Bertoli. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Grubb, and brother-in-law, Lewis (Joan) Carl Jr.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his sister Doris Arnold and her husband, Robert and his brother-in-law, Roy Grubb.

Condolences to the Family
May 16, 2024
To Diane & Family: Jerry was our cousin, and we remember all the visits to Uncle Pete & Aunt Elsie at their house in Lebanon. It was so nice to meet Gloria, Jerry, Doris and their children who are our second cousins. Jerry was a big Notre Dame fan as was our Father, Leo, and they had many phone calls to discuss the games. We offer our sympathy to your family. May Jerry’s peace be your peace. Connie & Kendall Hanna, Diane Bartell, & Beth Ann & Tim Hoagland.
