Gerard J. Dopler, 91

Gerard J. Dopler, 91, of Denver, PA passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Gardens of Stevens. Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Doris Naomi (Campbell) and Theodore Henry Dopler. He was the loving husband to Joan (Wade) Dopler for over 48 years where they resided in Fivepointville, Brecknock Twp., PA.
Jerry enlisted in the US Army in 1947 attending various electronic and service schools before being selected to attend “The Army Offices Candidate Training Program” and subsequently commissioned at a 2nd Lt. Signal Corps. After the onset of the Korean War in 1950, he was sent to Korea.
He graduated college majoring in Business Administration and Accounting. He served in management positions until his retirement as Vice-President of Finance.
Jerry was an Emeritus member of the National Association of Accountants, a 62-year member of American Legion and 15 year of the Lancaster Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
Jerry is survived by his wife Joan; his children: Gregory S. Dopler of Zelienople, Janice M Fallecker of Apollo, Karen C. Colley of Harrison City and Mary T. Dopler of Pittsburgh; his step-children Dawn M. Smith of Fivepointville, Wade C. Smith of Chatham, VA and Andrea V. McGoldrick of Collegeville; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Amanda, Derek, Cassie, Kristen, Cara, John, and Samual; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard

Jerry was a valued member of our organization, the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard, and will be sorely missed. He and I had a special relationship over the last year or two and would enjoy joking with each other at our meetings. I, personally, will miss those times.
