Frederick W. “Fred” Olsen, 82
January 19, 2026
Frederick W. “Fred” Olsen, 82, of Lancaster, was welcomed into the open arms of his Lord and Savior, on Monday, January 19, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Gerner A. and Guro Skaar Olsen. Fred was the husband of Margaret Ann “Marge” Kopf Olsen. He and Marge relocated to Lancaster in 2001 to volunteer at Wycliffe Bible Translators. He was a faithful member of Calvary Church, Lancaster and was a previous member of Calvary Bible Church for 17 years in New Jersey where he served as the treasurer and was devoted to his faith. For over 30 years he worked for IBM as an application support analyst. He had a love for music and participated in the High School band, playing the trumpet. His passion was his family and spending time with them at family functions. His sense of humor, though dry, was faithful in delivering a good “dad joke”.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Marge, are two children, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Olsen, Stephen F. “Steve” husband of Aubrey Morris Olsen. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Robert G. husband of Marsha Olsen, a brother-in-Law, Dr. James Stewert, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister, Alice Stewart.

Dear Marge and family,
Sue & I share in your grief from Fred’s passing. Marge, both you and Fred were a source of special encouragement as we served God with you way back in New Jersey, at Echo Lake Baptist Church. It was a delight to reconnect after you two relocated to the Lancaster area. As we grieve Fred’s absence, we also look forward to reconnecting once more, in heaven, in the not too distant future. Know that you’re on our hearts, in these days and in our prayers. Torrey & Sue Robinson

We did not get to visit as much as we would have liked, so we resort to our memories and they are good ones. When we worked together at the Northeast Regional Office we made a good team. Fred was faithful, loyal, and so Christ honoring. What a joy to be able to call him my friend. Our prayers are with you Marge, Stephen, and Beth and have been daily for these last few weeks. We are sad but take comfort in knowing that he is with his Lord. Our love to you all. Dick & Peggy Blauser

Dear Marge, Stephen and Beth,
I will share with you what I heard from a cousin when his Dad died. “We grieve more for what we never had than for what we lost.” I know that what you lost was a loving and faithful husband and father and good friend to me any many. Although you surely miss him, you have much to celebrate and praise God for! My prayers and love are with you. Carol Orwig

We pray God’s comfort for your family, at the same time knowing that you all look forward to seeing him again one day in heaven. We thank God for his friendship and for his service to the Wycliffe Northeast Regional Office for many years. He was an eager servant desiring to serve God. We personally appreciated his concern and prayer for us with our health needs. We will miss him.
