Fred Steudler, 82
September 9, 1941 - October 19, 2023
Fred Steudler, 82, passed away on his Conestoga Township property while enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, hunting, on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
He was born in Lancaster, the son of the late Frederick William Sr. and Jeanette (Stover) Steudler.
Fred graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Class of 1959, and earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from LeTourneau University. Fred was an entrepreneur in various businesses and a caring philanthropist. He recently received an honorary award for his engineering contributions.
Fred enjoyed 49 years of marriage to his wife Beverly A. (Enck) Steudler.
He was a member of Calvary Church.
In addition to hunting, Fred enjoyed fishing.
Surviving Fred are his loving wife Beverly, and his brother Richard S. Steudler, husband of Jaclin S. of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert A. Steudler, and David E. Steudler.
Whether for business, hunting, fishing, or leisure–Fred was always a follower of Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice”. He loved his Lord and the magnificence of creation! Fred and wife Beverly made “rejoicing in the Lord” the hallmark of their lives. Thank you, Lord!
A viewing will take place 2 to 3 pm, followed by a celebration of Fred’s life at 3 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Lancaster Bible College Good Shepherd Chapel, 901 Eden Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery will occur at 10 am Monday, October 30th.

Beverly, Rick and family,
I just happened to come across Fred’s obituary. We are so sorry for your loss. Fred was a special man with many talents. He had a wonderful zest for life and had such a presence about him. We so enjoyed our years at Valco and our friendship. We have so many memories but one that our boys and us will never forget was the wonderful trip spent at your beach home. The boys enjoyed Fred and the fishing trip so much. They still bring it up from time to time. You and Fred were so gracious to us. Fred nor you will ever be forgotten.

Bev: I am now missing two dear friends from my childhood. Fred and Bob Funk. My Dad used to say the hardest thing about growing older is that you lose old friends. I got to see Bob before he passed, regretfully I didn’t get to see Fred. Watching Fred’s video brought back many good memories of him and his mother. She was such a wonderful lady. Fred lived in the best of times and he is now looking down on us from the spirit world. May his loving spirit be with you in this diffilcut time. I will give Linda Funk the picture of our nursey school in Lancaster. If you want to borrow the original for a better copy you are welcome to have it. Take care. Freddy was my best friend when we were growing up. He would stop at my house on the way to wait for the schoolbus. When we were young we rode on our bicycles, even put on a circus in his backyard with the other kids. We spent a lot of time together as far as I can remember never had an argument. Freddy was special. Carol Zahm Nielsen

The last time I saw Fred he was singing hymns. Now he’s rejoicing with the Heavenly choir and spending time with His Savior and Lord. One day we’ll be on the Hello side too rather than goodbye. Until then we’ll miss him and pray for his dear wife, Beverly. Blessings and hugs, Kathy

I don’t know you, but apparently my family does. I respect the life that you lived with that man. I think perhaps he was brilliant, and in the same respect he chose a brilliant companion to take him on that journey. You seem to be a beautiful woman inside and out. You two will meet again. That’s the beautiful part. I love a hunter too. They will love us always. Michelle Kirchner

My sympathies to the family of Fred, I truly enjoyed the interactions that I had with Fred over my 20 years of employment with Val-Co and Raydot. We both shared the passion for hunting and fishing and his enthusiasm for poulty watering and the outdoors were something I will always remember. I will keep the family in my prayers.

I was surprised to read about Fred, Bev. I always enjoyed coming to your mobile home in Tamarack Village in the past with my husband Ken. We also attended Calvary and Ken played golf with Fred. We were divorced in 1978. I will not be able to attend the funeral because I live in NC now and help care for my 100 year old mom. Praying for comfort as you grieve the loss of your husband. Please give Rick my condolences also.

My deepest sympathy to Fred’s family and many friends. We live in the same community (Sickmans Mill Rd) In July 1986 our family farm experienced a fire. We had never spoken to Fred. He showed up with all of his heavy equipment and trucks and cleaned up all the debris at no cost. We were forever grateful for his kindness
