Frank Pomerantz
Frank Pomerantz of Lancaster, formerly of Rye, New York, died Thursday, October 25 at Brethren Village.
Born June 18, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Mary (Mansky) and Ike Pomerantz. He is survived by his wife, Louise Kass Pomerantz, to whom he was married for 64 years in August. Frank is also survived by his daughter Beth, wife of David Ehrlich, of Lancaster; his son Jerry, husband of Nancy Greystone, of Santa Monica, California; grandchildren Philip and Sally Ehrlich and Aaron and Ava Pomerantz; sister-in-law Ethel Weinstein; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Alan and by siblings Sally Pomerantz, Cele Rubel, and Herman Pomerantz.
A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School (1934) and City College of New York (1938), Frank worked as an accountant for the government in Washington, D.C., from 1942 to 1946. For over 30 years, he was comptroller and financial officer for an investment builder in New York City. He retired in 1981.
Frank, with his wife, was an active member for over 55 years of Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel, Port Chester, New York, where he sang in the choir and served on the synagogue board and other committees. Since moving to Lancaster in 2006, Frank has been a member of Temple Beth El.
