Frank A. Palumbo, 82
Frank A. Palumbo, 82, of Lancaster died Monday at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
He retired from Armstrong World Industries in 1986 after 36 years.
He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his granddaughter. A US Army Veteran, of WWII, he participated in the D Day Invasion, landing at Omaha Beach. He also was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was also a member of the following clubs; 8th Ward, Hubley, Rainmakers, Sons of Italy, Italian American Club, Fin –N- Feather and American Legion Post #34.
Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late Joseph and Justina Costarella Palumbo. He was married to Christina Marie Familiari Palumbo who died in 1996. Surviving are three daughters; Justina I. Elliott and son-in-law, Richard A. Eddy; Linda Palumbo and son-in-law, Donald P. Fulton; Meekina Lopane all of Lancaster; one granddaughter, Christina Lynn Fulton of Lancaster; one sister, Micina Palumbo of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Francesca Palumbo and one brother, Carmen Palumbo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster on Saturday at 10:00am. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until time of service. Interment in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Frank’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
