Florence D. Ziegler, 95

Florence D. Ziegler, 95, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her children on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community.  Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Rose Elizabeth (Fritsch) Fitzgerald.  Florence was the wife of the late Bernard J. Ziegler, Sr.

Florence was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She attended Lancaster Catholic High School.  She was a member of the Guys & Dolls of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.  She volunteered at St. Anne’s Retirement Community and at LGH in the Grey Ladies Group.  Florence loved the Philadelphia Phillies and Sixers. She enjoyed knitting, & crocheting as well as playing bingo. She was a homemaker and she loved cooking for the family.

Florence is survived by 3 children: Bernard J. Ziegler, Jr., husband of Jane, Rosemary Z. Greiner and James C. Ziegler, husband of Ellie; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Melanie Fitzgerald.

Florence is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth E. Ziegler; and 5 siblings: George, Richard and Russell Fitzgerald, Ruth Flick and Betty McKinsey.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 10-11 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.  In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in Florence’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N.
