Fabian Gonzalez Sr., 78

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our father, Fabian Gonzalez Sr., 78, of Lancaster after a 17-year battle with cancer. Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Ricardo Gonzalez and Herminia Huertas.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Mercedes, his three children; Fabian Gonzalez Jr. and his wife Terry, Michelle Good and her husband Tim, and Michael Gonzalez and his wife Lisa. He has three grandchildren, Ashley, Nicholas, and Jordan, and three great-grandchildren Stella, Grayson, and Eden. He is also survived by his siblings; Carlos, Angel, Migdalia, Enid, and Margarita and a host of extended family and bonus grandchildren that he shared with Mercedes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Iris Medina.
We would like to thank Hospice & Community Care for all their help and care for our father. You have been a tremendous support team for our family.
As per our father’s wishes, services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice & Community Care at 685 Good Dr, Lancaster, PA 17604 or a charity of your choice.

My sympathies and condolences to Fabians’ children, Fabian Jr, Michelle and Michael. Back in the mid 70’s your father had started a “Great Latino music group, named Fabian Gonzalez Y Los Sublimes in the Lancaster, PA area and his group included my father, Jose Luis Velasquez as the lead guitarist. We were just kids who got to know one another during all the group practices at each other basement’s. Yes,.. we were Louie’s three little girls, Joanne, Marianne and Paula Velasquez at that time back in 1975 ish. What great talent the group was emitting then back in the day as we kids would settled in to listen and enjoy the lush sounds of the Los Sublimes practicing thier beatiful music…. streaming out of our parents’ homes.
We kids and our mother, Ruth got to know your mother “Mini” as well. Great times.

My sympathies and condolences. I worked with Fabian for 15 years, he was a man of faith and kindness. He always made you feel good being around him, always being positive. He will be sorely missed.
