Evan Harry Phillips, 83
Evan Harry Phillips, 83, of East Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Mennonite Home. Born in Quakake, Pennsylvania on November 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Evan and Helen (Michael) Phillips. He was married to Grace (Buxengard) Phillips for more than 60 years.
Evan retired from Armstrong World Industries after more than 43 years of service. He was also employed at the Lancaster Host Resort for more than 20 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea. Evan was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Petersburg.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three sons, Evan G. Phillips of Greenbelt, Maryland, Spencer D. Phillips of Lancaster (married to Andrea (Valavanes) Phillips), and Jason K. Phillips of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania (married to Diane (McDermott) Phillips). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Christina Phillips, Kelly Phillips, Andrew Phillips, and Caitlyn Phillips, a sister, Helen Cunningham of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania and a brother, Michael Phillips of Landisville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Evans, a son, Evan Gregory Phillips, and a grandchild, Evan Connor Phillips.
Funeral Services will be at 11AM on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad St., East Petersburg, PA 17520 with the Rev. Mary Margaret Ruth officiating. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10-11AM at the church. Interment in church cemetery.
