Eugene L. Ehrhart, Jr., 78, of Lititz, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born June 12, 1947, in Lancaster, he was the son of Eugene L. Ehrhart and Elizabeth J. (Burns) Ehrhart. A 1965 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Millersville State College in 1969.
He worked at Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories for more than 30 years, first as an analytical chemist and later in quality systems, before retiring in 2003.
From 1970 to 1973 he served in the U.S. Army and Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He was stationed in Korea (1970–1971) as an Army medic with 2nd Battalion, 71st Artillery (HAWK), Eighth U.S. Army. He later served with 103rd Medical Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, assisting with statewide flood-relief operations following Hurricane Agnes in 1972. His decorations include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He enjoyed fishing, photography, and model railroading, and supported young scientists as a judge for the Lancaster Science and Engineering Fair (1988–1993).
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son Todd and daughter-in-law Umay; daughter Megan and son-in-law Knut; and brothers Stephen, Timothy, and Robert.
Private interment will take place at Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
