Elvira McAteer, 77
January 29, 2024
Elvira McAteer, 77, was called home January 29, 2024. She is reunited with her parents William and Elvira, her brother Fred, and her beloved granddaughter Brittney-Lyn. Elvira’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, yet her legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to live on in the cherished memories of her family and friends.
Elvira is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Bob, who was not just a companion but the source of immeasurable happiness in her life. Together, they shared countless moments of joy, with one of the highlights being a dream-come-true trip to Hawaii. However, their favorite retreat remained the enchanting Niagara Falls on the Canadian side, a place that held a special significance in their hearts.
Elvira’s memory lives on through her daughters, Brigitte (Ron) and Dannette (Greg), who she leaves behind with the knowledge that they are strong, resilient women capable of navigating the challenges that lie ahead. Her love and guidance have undoubtedly shaped the remarkable women they have become.
In addition to her daughters, Elvira leaves behind her older brother Bill, four grandchildren – Jonathan (Jen), Ashlyn (Steven), James, and Chase – who brought immeasurable joy into her life. Her love extended to the next generation as well, with six great-grandchildren – Sean, Declan, Kinzley, Elijah, Oliver, and Theodore – who were the apples of her eye.
Elvira’s warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of many, extending to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember her presence. Her legacy of love will be deeply missed, but the memories of the moments shared with Elvira will serve as a comforting reminder of the profound impact she had on those around her.
As we bid farewell to Elvira McAteer, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, family, and cherished moments. May she find eternal peace in the arms of her loved ones who have gone before her, and may her memory continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Elvira’s honor to St. Christoper’s Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia at www.towerhealth.org.

I am devastated with the passing of Elvira , I knew her as “Sam”. I lived next door to her for YEARS. We brought up our children together. We were there for each other through good times and bad. I could always go to her with whatever was happening in my life. She was an angel then and now she’s REALLY an angel!!…I am at a loss of words of what I really want to say…so much history.i never forgot about you honey when we parted ways. The most beautiful thing is how you, and you alone parented your wonderful daughters and how they turned out. You were such a Godsend to me back allll those years ago and now I know I can talk to you through prayer. I love you. You will ALWAYS be in my thoughts and prayers…you will always be in my heart. Rest in peace my friend. Thank you for all of our talks, our laughter, our helping each other out with our children…just, thank you for being in my life . I will never forget you.❤️❤️❤️ Donna Jones
