Elaine Breuers, 85
January 06, 2026
Elaine Breuers passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026. She was a devoted wife and mother, and proud resident of Lancaster.
Born in Mahanoy City, Elaine was the oldest daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (née Souka) Bottock. The family moved to Levittown when she was a teenager, where she graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in marketing in 1962.
Following graduation, Elaine moved to New York City to pursue a career she loved in retailing as a buyer. In an executive training program, she met the love of her life, Bernard Breuers, and together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. She was actively involved in her children’s lives and could be found cheering them on during their sporting events, managing her son’s soccer teams, and leading Girl Scout and PTA activities.
Elaine was very sociable; she and Bernard maintained a wonderful circle of friends. She thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with friends from Newcomers and Neighbors of Lancaster and she held board positions for many years. She participated in several volunteer organizations including with the Fulton Theater, Lancaster General Hospital, and reading for the blind. She made people feel welcome, was always willing to listen, and her presence left a positive, lasting impression. She cherished her friends and the memories they built together.
Elaine is survived by her husband Bernard, their children Stacy Breuers (Patrick Gostomski) and Derek Breuers (Leah), brother Greg Bottock, sister Marilyn Cash (Stanley),
nieces Kaitlin Clary Bottock (Andrew Van Duzer), Taylor Dawson (Nathan), Kacie Casey (Cameron), and nephew Cullen Bottock. She is also survived by many extended family members and very dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her siblings Stephanie Bottock and Stephen (Steve) Bottock Jr, and Steve’s wife Paula Clary.
A service celebrating Elaine’s life will be held at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Road in Lancaster on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11AM. Visitation will take place from 10 AM to 11AM.
