Edward “Butch” Moyer, 81
November 20, 2025
Edward “Butch” Moyer, 81, of East Petersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2025, surrounded by the family who adored him. Born in Lebanon, PA, he was the son of the late Ammon and Marie (Berkheiser) Moyer. For 64 beautiful years, he was married to the love of his life, Barbara A. (Hartenstine) Moyer. Their bond was truly extraordinary—an example of devotion, partnership, and unconditional love.
Butch worked as a diesel mechanic for 46 years, a testament to the unmatched work ethic that defined his life. He was respected not only for his skill, but for his integrity and the genuine kindness he brought to every interaction. With an infectious personality and an unforgettable presence, Butch had a way of lighting up every room he entered. People were naturally drawn to him; to know him was to love him.
He found joy in the little things—fixing anything in need of repair, tending to his perfectly kept yard, and offering help to whoever needed it. Above all, his greatest happiness came from his family. “Sundays at Grandpa’s” were his favorite—gatherings filled with stories, laughter, each other’s company, and a few ice-cold Miller Lites. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Butch is survived by his daughter, Deb Chelius, wife of Eric; his granddaughter, Danielle Millaway, wife of Brian; his grandson, Derek Klim, partner of Amber Stine; and his brother, Ammon Moyer, husband of Jane.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 10–11 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
Memorial contributions in Butch’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Sad to hear of Butch’s passing. Butch has always thought of others first. He was always great to me and my family. Always was happy to chat and hear how you were doing. I had the pleasure of working with Butch for several years and the man would give the shirt off his back to help his co-workers and friends. There are many stories where he sacrificed to help others. Sad for his family and all connected. Butch will be missed.

I was a neighbor since 1978. Butch and Sis have been wonderful neighbors. Butch was always kind and ready to help in anyway he could, even if you didn’t ask 😍
I already miss seeing him outside enjoying his yard and especially his friends and family every Sunday morning. I will also miss his jolly laughter and the pop sound when he opened his Miller Light 🍺🍻

Great memories with uncle Butch. I’ll drink a beer for him just like he had us do for dad. Look forward to seeing him again. Kim
